Visits

I enjoy talking to children and adults of all ages about illustrating children's books — at schools, libraries, and other organizations.

A full-day visit to a school would include up to four presentations of up to an hour each, with a shorter visit for kindergarten classes.  Groups of less than 40 students are best. I take seriously my responsibility to motivate, inspire, and connect with each child. The format of the presentation will include: how I found my path as an artist, the process of illustrating a book from start to finish, a demonstration, and question-and-answer time. I stress the importance of research, revisions, and believing in yourself.  Often I leave behind a project for the class to complete with the teacher. Travel costs and lodging are extra for a visit beyond 50 miles from my home in Peterborough, NH. Visits to local schools can be divided into two days.
