Welcome

I am a children's book illustrator, wood engraver, painter, and pattern designer. To date, I've illustrated eleven books for children. In 2009, I received the Caldecott award for my illustrations in The House in the Night by Susan Marie Swanson.

Reading books with my children at bedtime was a highlight of my life as a parent. I loved to see what my daughters noticed in each illustration and what moved them. Those cozy evenings curled up with books inform my work as a children's book illustrator. I hope my books will create happy memories for you and your family.
